Nova Polymers Fabricator Spotlight: Acorn Sign Graphics
Acorn Sign Graphics (ASG) is a Nova Polymers Preferred Fabricator operating out of Richmond, Virginia. As a sign fabricator, they are involved in projects for healthcare facilities, colleges and universities, K-12 schools, and large offices.
To the Acorn team, signs do more than simply identify and direct; they communicate an image and a brand. As such, Acorn creates high-quality custom signage through a wide range of capabilities. Designing and fabricating custom ADA compliant signage is Acorn’s “bread and butter,” as President TJ Daly puts it. Through a combination of joining the Nova Polymers Preferred Fabricator program and focusing on its internal company culture, Acorn has become one of the top fabricators on the east coast.
The Acorn Culture
Acorn Sign Graphics prides itself on being a values-based organization. Executive Vice President Of Sales & Marketing Bob Greenberger explains, “Really, we’re a company based on values. Our culture is by far the best, and we take our core values and relay that to our customers through our outstanding products and professionalism. That’s how we build our business relationships with our customers.”
Built and fine-tuned over the span of seven decades, Acorn’s core values are the driving force behind the long-lasting relationships they cultivate with their customers and partners.
- Hold Up Your End of the Deal
- We Are in this Together
- Exceed Expectations
- We Can Do it Better
- Shine the Light
Acorn Sign Graphics has attained a number of reputable achievements, such as being showcased on the Inc. 5000 list twice, and – most importantly – has been recognized as a Certified B Corporation for the last seven years. “Being a Certified B Corporation is a good housekeeping seal of approval for sustainability. But it’s more than just being green. It’s how we treat employees, how we work with suppliers and vendors, and how we work with customers,” explains Daly. This seal pushed the Acorn culture to penetrate every aspect of its operations and is one of the main reasons for its strong relationship with Nova Polymers.
A True Partnership with Nova Polymers
Acorn Sign Graphics first became a Nova Polymers Preferred Fabricator more than 10 years ago to better serve their clients. “We were just looking for a line of business in the beginning. We were looking for a way to fill the specifications that we were finding related to ADA signage,” said Daly. But by working with Nova Polymers, Acorn Sign Graphics was able to establish more than a line of business. Acorn discovered a partner that helped to expand its target markets and grow its architectural ADA signage business.
Today, Acorn and Nova Polymers’ decade-long partnership has transformed into a symbiotic relationship that continues to bring value to both companies. “From a supplier perspective, Nova Polymers is the best partner we have,” said Daly. A critical reason that attributes to the company’s outstanding success is Nova Polymers’ pull marketing strategy, such as their Lunch N’ Learns and webinars. “As a supplier to Acorn, they don’t just check our inventory stocks and make sure everything is okay. They’re out front, talking to our customers about the benefits of photopolymer, who then turn to us or other preferred fabricators to ensure compliancy of their ADA signage,” Daly expands. “We’re basically customer-facing in the market, arm-and-arm with our largest supplier.”
The Acorn team works closely with Nova Polymers to find areas to improve on together. If Acorn has any issues, the Nova Polymers’ team is there to help in an instant. If Acorn has any feedback regarding the Novacryl® Processing system, the Nova Polymers’ team is there to listen. By being a Preferred Fabricator, Acorn has been able to build this culture of mutual continuous improvement with Nova Polymers that has been the key to the companies’ relationship. “We don’t have this level of partnership with our other vendors,” said Greenberger.
A Continued Partnership with Nova Polymers
Acorn Sign Graphics has a goal they want to hit: to become the expert in ADA compliant photopolymer signage. “A core competency of our company is fabricating and installing ADA compliant photopolymer signs and we know that continuing to work with Nova Polymers will help us strengthen this,” said Daly.
